This town is worth visiting
A young, dynamic city, Katowice is the cultural and administrative centre of Upper Silesia. For a long time, coal and steel dominated the image of the 150 year old city. Today, the city stands for science, services and fine arts. Katowice is well on its way to being a European cultural capital.
The exact location
Everything here is easy to reach: you're just minutes away from the Spodek Show Arena und the ICC (congress centre) as well as the main railway station and major roads. Discover the neighbouring cities of Gliwice, Tychy and Sosnowiec - you can be there in as little as 20 minutes.

Katowice loves murals! Scattered around the city, they are eye-catching, surprising and fun. When you go on a tour of Katowice, you simply cannot pass them without a closer look. You'll find them on small buildings, in the gates, in underground passages and on huge facades. Now it is time to find your favorite!

ROSARIUM (ROSE GARDEN)
Atmospheric alleyways, ponds with blooming lilies, roses in many species and colors and an amazing smell in every corner - these are the words best describing the Silesian Park Rosarium. A magical place where by walking and admiring the surrounding nature you can also learn about the Silesian folk legend. Look out for the famous sculpture-bench of Karolinka and Karlik!

TADEUSZ KOSCIUSZKO PARK
Summer in the city? Definitely spend it in Katowice and in Kosciuszko Park! Huge space, over 90 species of trees and shrubs protecting from the hot summer sun, classic English gardens, and a few hidden pearls. Here you can relax, run or walk – and a 'must see' is an unusual Parachute Tower!

Few people know that Park Śląski (Silesian Park) is larger in area than New York’s famous Central Park. The Legendia Silesian Amusement Park, a real zoo, planetarium and Silesian open-air village museum – all of these attractions are waiting for you at Silesian Park.

HEAR KATOWICE
Katowice is the hometown of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. In its honour, a new concert hall was recently built on the site of the former "Katowice" coal mine. You should not miss the chance to attend a concert by Poland's best orchestra.

KATOWICE SHOPPING
In the ul. 3 Maja the cityscape is characterised by lovingly restored patrician homes. The pedestrian area is studded with chic boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Most of the bars and clubs are located in the ul. Mariacka – one of the hip centres of nightlife in Poland.

KATOWICE MEETING
Katowice is the home of the newly built International Congress Centre(ICC), Poland's largest congress and event centre with space for more than 15,000 people. A pedestrian underpass also gives visitors direct access to the neighbouring Event Arena Spodek, which looks rather like a flying saucer from the outside.

NIKISZOWIEC
One of the city's insider tips is a trip to the historic workers' housing estate Nikiszowiec, which is now a picturesque area featuring many restaurants. A walk along the cobblestone streets, surrounded by the typical red-brick estates, will put some magic into your evening. And there is another reason to visit this place. Here is located Café Byfyj, where you can taste delicious homemade baked goods.

KATOWICE EXCURSIONS
There is also quite a lot to explore in the neighbouring historic cities of Gliwice, Tychy and Sosnowiec. Tychy is particularly noted for its rich and varied entertainment programme, many green areas, boulevards and recreational facilities. The oldest brewery in the country is also based here and is open to visitors.

From the "Dworzec“ bus stop, take bus nr. 0, 51, 110, 911, 930 or 950 and get off after only 2 stops.

- From Katowice-Pyrzowice airport:
Take the "Lotnisko“ bus in the direction of "Katowice Dworzec“. Get off after the third stop, "Katowice Sokolska", and you will be at the hotel.

By car
- From the south:
From Bielsko-Biała turn onto route 79 (ul. Chorzowska) from route S86, then head for the city centre. Continue straight across the roundabout and turn left at the first traffic light.
- From the north:
From Warsaw, Łódź turn onto route 79 (ul. Chorzowska) from route S86, then head for the city centre. Continue straight across the roundabout and turn left at the first traffic light.
- From the west:
Coming from Wrocław, exit the A4 motorway onto route S86 toward Warsaw. After about 2 km, turn onto route 79 (ul. Chorzowska) in the direction of the city centre. Continue straight across the roundabout and turn left at the first traffic light.
- From the east:
Coming from Krakow, exit the A4 motorway onto route S86 toward Warsaw. After about 2 km, turn onto route 79 (ul. Chorzowska) in the direction of the city centre. Continue straight across the roundabout and turn left at the first traffic light.
Parking
